In Loving Memory of Charlie Watson

Charlie wasn't defined by his illness — he was defined by who he was 💙

Charlie was a much-loved son, brother, partner and friend.

Charlie had an older brother and a younger brother, and family meant everything to him.

Only months before he passed, Charlie became an uncle for the first time, a beautiful niece named Winnie — a new part of life he was just beginning to experience.

The bond within his family was strong, but it didn't stop there.

The family always said: "friends are the family we choose" — and that couldn't have been more true for Charlie.

He had a close-knit circle of friends who stood by him through everything. That loyalty, that connection — it was a huge part of who he was.

But more than anything — Charlie was about football.

Football wasn't just something he played. It was who he was.

He had played since he was just 3 years old. It shaped his life, his friendships, his routine, his mindset — everything. The pitch was where he belonged.

Even after being diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma, that didn't change.

Charlie would go for his immunotherapy treatment — and then that same evening, go straight to football training.

And he didn't just turn up — he trained. Just as hard. If not harder.

That was Charlie. Strong. Determined. Relentless.

He refused to let cancer take away the part of his life that meant the most to him.

Alongside this, he also completed his joinery apprenticeship during treatment — something that showed just how much strength and determination he had. But for Charlie, joinery was always secondary. Football was everything.

His journey reached thousands of people across Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland and beyond. People followed his story not because of illness — but because of the person he was.

Charlie passed away at home on 12 June 2025, surrounded by the people who loved him most.

There are no words that can truly capture that loss.

Charlie was never meant to be a legacy. He was meant to live his life.

But through this foundation, his impact continues in a way that reflects who he truly was.

He was a legend of a human being.
And through everything we do, that will never be forgotten 💙
